A ‘First Aid Kit’ For Summer

First Aid Kit has nailed down its summer tour plans for the U.S. and Canada. Sweden’s folk duo will play festivals such as Louisville’s Forecastle and Chicago’s Lollapalooza as well as headlining gigs in Austin, Columbus, Detroit and Los Angeles.

Festivals do make up the major portion of Klara and Johanna Söderberg’s summer plans. Newport Folk, Forecastle, and Outside Lands are just a few of the mammoth, multi-day events First Aid Kit will appear on from July through August. Non-festival stops include an appearance with Brandi Carlile at Filene Center At Wolf Trap in Vienna, Va., July 22 and a gig with Dawes at SummerStage Central Park in New York City July 27.

Now the sisters have a few shows of their own to play – Stubb’s Bar-B-Q / Waller Creek Amph. in Austin, Texas, July 16; Newport Music Hall in Columbus, Ohio, July 21; St. Andrews Hall in Detroit July 29; and Immanuel Presbyterian in Los Angeles Aug. 5.

The group comes to America straight off of the success of Stay Gold, which snagged “album of the year” at the 2015 Swedish Grammis. First Aid Kit released its America EP in 2014, which includes a cover of Simon & Garfunkel’s “America,” the original, unreleased “Brother” and acoustic versions of two songs from Stay Gold – the title track and “My Silver Lining.”
