ReverbNation Is Looking For A Few Good Bands

ReverbNation is selecting bands to play nearly 130 events in the lead-up to the Special Olympics World Summer Games. Acts can submit their music now through April 24 for consideration.

The performances are part of the “Special Olympics Unified Relay Across America,” which represents the first-known torch relay to make stops in all 50 states.

The schedule for the May 26 to July 10 trek is made up of three simultaneous routes that are all headed for Los Angeles, where the Special Olympics World Summer Games begins July 25. The relay routes are divided by North, Central and South, with the journeys starting in Augusta, Maine; Washington, D.C.; and Miami, respectively.

Celebrity and Special Olympics athlete co-captains will lead the routes that are expected to include more than 20,000 participants running, walking and biking segments of the journey to carry the Special Olympics Flame of Hope throughout the U.S.

Every evening, a Torch Arrival Ceremony will be held at each of the stops on the three routes with entertainment by a ReverbNation artist. The celebrations will also include local Special Olympics athletes and city officials.

Bands are invited to submit to perform at one tour stop or many. Cities on the routing include Baltimore, Nashville, Oklahoma City, Las Vegas, New York City, Idaho Falls and Atlanta.

“Over the last year we have worked very hard to build a curation-at-scale platform that can match the right bands with the right audience for the right experience,” ReverbNation founder and CEO Mike Doernberg said.

“We are impressed with both the quantity and quality of the submissions we have received so far from great local bands all over the country. Serving an important event such as the Special Olympics Unified Relay Across America confirms our belief in the growing importance of music across everyday experiences and our ability to connect artists to these opportunities,” said Peter Wheeler, Chief of Strategic Properties for Special Olympics.

ReverbNation – which helps emerging artists build their careers through online marketing tools, A&R and industry relationships – has worked with acts including Imagine Dragons, Albama Shakes, Kacey Musgraves, Mac Miller, A$AP Rocky and Hunter Hayes.
