Crowd Crush At Chilean Club Leaves Three Dead

Three people have been killed and a dozen are injured after a large crowd tried to force its way into a nightclub in Chile’s capital.

Authorities say the incident happened early Friday when a crush of people made a run on the entrance of the Santiago club Tsunami, where British punk group Doom was playing. Police Gen. Hugo Insulza says the pressure from people outside caused a “structure” to fall on people inside the club. It wasn’t immediately clear what that structure was.

Insulza says several people have been detained.

The dead and injured are men and women in their 20s and 30s. Dr. Mario Henriquez says seven of the injured are in critical condition.
