Social Distortion’s Album Tour

Social Distortion’s summer tour will feature the band playing its 1990 self-titled album front-to-back along with many of the band’s classic songs. Launching in Arizona in late July, look for Mike Ness & Co. in Houston, Denver, Pittsburgh, Nashville and other fine locales.

Why the album treatment?  This year marks the 25th anniversary of the LP that brought the band a wider audience.  Songs such as “So Far Away,” “Ball and Chain” and “Story Of My Life” as well as Social D’s treatment of the Johnny Cash hit “Ring Of Fire” received lots of love from alt-rock radio stations while the album became the band’s best-selling disc ever.  Social Distortion was re-released on limited edition vinyl for Record Store Day.

“We are very excited about this tour,” Ness said.  “It’s not often we get to celebrate anniversaries of records, or play them in their entirety, but this record was a milestone for us and after rehearsing it we realized it was a hell of a set. … High energy and good flow.  It was a great feeling to play songs that I hadn’t played in twenty years, or more.  It’s inspirational to ‘revisit’ this album; especially during the writing of a new record.  All I can say is ‘it’s gonna be a kick ass show!!!!”
