Autumn Nights With Father John Misty

Most acts put out statements saying how fun their upcoming tours are going to be, but Father John Misty keeps it real, confessing that from the artist’s point of view, touring can be really lonely. So he’s counting on you to show up to one of his gigs and make the whole thing worthwhile.

The singer/songwriting is touring in support of latest studio album, I Love You, Honeybear, which was released in February on Sub Pop.

The AV Club gave the album an A- in its review that noted, “Apart from the lush compositions and layered autobiographical themes, I Love You, Honeybear also succeeds perhaps most obviously from Tillman’s own incredible voice. With a welcoming tenor and a likeably schmaltzy delivery that finds him displaying loads of range and emotions, he’s able to give his subject matter the unforgiving and ultimately warm treatment it deserves.”

Before the fall tour begins, Father John Misty will spend some time on the road with The Alabama Shakes. He’s also got plenty of festival appearances from Hangout Fest in Gulf Shores, Ala.; to Chicago’s Lollapalooza to Pukkelpop in Hasselt, Belgium.

“Touring can be really lonely,” Father John Misty posted on Facebook this week. “You feel isolated, disoriented. Even sort of socially catatonic. That’s why it’s so important that I see your beautiful little stupid faces. You are my lifeline to the world of mankind. Maybe I should shave. I love you.”
