Honoring Pete Townshend

Billy Idol, Joan Jett and Foreigner’s Mick Jones will perform at the 11th annual MusiCares Map Fund Benefit Concert honoring Pete Townshend and long-time Who manager Bill Curbishley. And yes, tickets are available for the public.

Presented by RBC Capital Markets with additional support provided by the DJ AM Memorial fund, the May 28 evening at New York City’s Best Buy Theater features stars honoring stars with Bruce Springsteen giving Townshend the Stevie Ray Vaughan Award for his dedication and support of the Map Fund.

The MusiCares Foundation benefits musicians and other members of the music community by providing emergency financial assistance for basic living expenses such as rent, car payments and medical expenses. The Foundation’s Map Fund helps those struggling with substance abuse issues by enabling access to addiction recovery treatment and sober living resources.

But Townshend will do more than accept the award because The Who is also on the entertainment lineup.

While this is essentially a music industry event, mezzanine tickets priced at $65 are available for the general public.  Click here for more information and here for the MusiCares website.
