Built To Spill is touring in support of its eighth studio album, Untethered Moon, released this week.  The new music arrived a bit earlier for vinyl fans when the band issued an old-fashioned LP on Record Store Day. A limited edition transparent blue vinyl version of the album was randomly distributed in the initial run.

Untethered Moon is the first Built To Spill album with drummer Steve Gere and bassist Jason Albertini.

After playing Las Vegas this past Monday, the band returns to the road May 7 in Nashville. Built To Spill’s spring wanderings will pretty much keep east of the Rockies up until early July with destinations including Orlando, New Orleans, Houston, St. Louis, Chicago and Detroit.  The newly added dates cover the West Coast and surround the band’s previously announced shows with Death Cab For Cutie scheduled for Troutedale, Ore., July 8; Bend, Ore.; July 9 and Berkeley, Calif., July 11.  Also previously announced is Built To Spill’s participation in Seattle’s Capitol Hill Block Party July 24.  Come Sept. 18 the band will play Toronto’s TURF Festival.
