Billy Joel Tapped To Close Nassau Coliseum

Billy Joel’s summer show at Long Island’s Nassau Coliseum will be the final show at the venue before it undergoes extensive renovation. Presales begin next week and general onsales start in May.

The Aug. 4 gig will be the Piano Man’s 32nd performance at the venue located in Uniondale, N.Y.  A resident of Long Island, Joel’s last run of headlining shows at the Coliseum was in 1998 when he sold out nine concerts and set the venue’s record for the most sellouts in one year.

The renovated Coliseum will reopen in 2016.

Joel’s show is presented by Bruce Ratner and Nassau Events Center (NEC), which also manages Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.

“Who else but Billy Joel could play the final show at Nassau Coliseum?” said Barclays Center CEO Brett Yormark.  “Billy is the definitive voice of Long Island and has made a lasting impact on his community in so many ways.  We appreciate having him close the building in such a fitting way as we prepare to give Long Islanders a spectacular venue with world-class programming and a retail and entertainment destination they will be proud of.”

American Express will hold a presale for its cardholders beginning April 27 at 10 a.m. and running through April 30 at 10 p.m.   General onsales begin May 1 at 10 a.m. All times EDT.  Click here for more information.
