Sam Smith Cancels Australia

Sam Smith has canceled the remainder of a critically acclaimed Australian arena tour on medical advice.

In a statement released through promoter Frontier Touring, the quadruple Grammy-winner announced, “I am deeply, deeply saddened to tell my Australian fans, I have to cancel my Australian tour. I have been vocally exhausted for a while now however last night in Sydney I had a small haemorrhage on my vo and the first of two Sydney shows at the . The show received rave reviews for his classy presence and warmth.

The affected shows are the second  Hordern Pavilion show (April 28), , Melbourne (April 30), AEC Theatre, Adelaide (May 1) and , Perth (May 4).

He was also to have performed at the 57th TV Week Logie awards May 3. The self styled “TV industry’s night of nights” is broadcast nationally on the free-to-air Nine Network from Melbourne’s .

Frontier said it was “working with Sam and his team to schedule a new tour for December 2015. New dates will be announced very shortly.”

This week, Smith’s In The Lonely Hour album was certified triple platinum in Australia. It also finally reached No. 1 on the official ARIA chart after it spent 48 weeks in the Top 20 and 37 weeks in the Top 10.
