Update: Mitchell’s Rep Denies Coma Report
Joni Mitchell’s reps deny that the artist is in a coma. A statement on her website says the singer “comprehends, she’s alert, and she has her full senses” … and “a full recovery is expected.”
“Contrary to rumors circulating on the Internet today, Joni is not in a coma,” the website post reads, while confirming the artist remains hospitalized and there is in fact a document giving longtime friend Leslie Morris authority to make care decisions for her once she leaves the hospital.
“As we all know, Joni is a strong-willed woman and is nowhere near giving up the fight.” Reports that Mitchell was in a coma and unresponsive first appeared on TMZ.com and subsequently other media outlets, including The Associated Press, followed suit.
