Gov. Jay Inslee signs into law a measure banning ticket bots on April 28 in Olympia, Wash. Washington joins at least 13 other states that ban automated software that buys concert and sports tickets before fans get a chance to make purchases.
With Tuesday’s signing of House Bill 1091, requested by Attorney General Bob Ferguson, Washington joins at least 13 other states, including Oregon, that have banned so-called ticket bots.
Ferguson has said that Ticketmaster report ticket bots often buy up 60 percent of an event’s desirable seats. The measure makes the use of ticket bots a violation of Washington’s Consumer Protection Act.
