My Morning Jacket Brings ‘The Waterfall Tour’ West

My Morning Jacket’s new album, Waterfall, is officially out today. As if Monday couldn’t get any better, the band has a new leg of West Coast dates scheduled this fall. Strand of Oaks, Fruit Bats, and Dr. Dog support select shows.

MMJ’s spring/summer tour kicks off May 15 in Athens, Ga., with U.S. and European dates booked through September.

The new run of shows begins Sept. 30 in Portland, Ore. Along with gigs in Washington and California, the routing also includes stops in Utah, Nevada, Arizona and Texas.

Waterfall marks MMJ’s seventh studio album. Check out the band performing the track “Compound Fracture” on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” below.

The band announced last week that it was launching The Waterfall Project to support and promote “actions, big and small, for positive change in the world. MMJ will contribute funds via portion of ticket sales in the U.S., proceeds from special merch items and donations

The act is devoting 2015 to doing its part to help with environmental and climate issues. The first beneficiaries are Kentuckians For The Commonwealth, Gulf Restoration Network and Climate Justice Alliance.
