Download: No More Faffing With Cash

England’s Download Festival will be the UK’s first major to be completely cashless.

The announcement on the Download website says it will “reduce queues for the bar and food stalls” and “remove the faff of cash.”

Festival-goers will load their credits on to a dog tag, part of the festival wristband, which will be usable across the entire site. When tickets arrive, they’ll need to visit downloadfestival.co.uk/rfid-dogtags to start loading money on to the tag.

On arrival at the Donington site, fans will exchange physical tickets for dig tags pre-loaded with funds. After each transaction at any of the bars or stalls, the balance will be automatically updated.

Anyone who runs out of credit will be able to add more onsite with a debit or credit card. Any credit left over at the end of the festival will be automatically refunded.

The acts on this year’s Download June 12-14 include SlipknotMuseKISSJudas PriestFaith No More, and Motley Crue.
