Rather than take about six days to compile the information, the Official German Charts – as they’re now being called – will be made available immediately after the Friday to Thursday calculation period.

The first chart produced under the new method was made public May 8. The charts are published by BVMI, the German equivalent of the UK’s BPI, and Nuremberg-based Gfk Entertainment, which has compiled the country’s charts for a number of years.

There are German charts to cover 14 different types of music, although the new chart published on a Friday will include genres.
