Nico & Vinz

Nico & Vinz’s agents and manager say this is just the beginning for the Norwegian singing/songwriting duo, but the guys are already off to a great start with an international hit single and their first U.S. headline tour currently underway.

Nico Sereba and Vincent Dury – who count pop, reggae, West African dance, hip hop, rock and soul among their influences – began making music together in 2010 as Envy. The following year the act beat out unsigned bands from across the world to win the Emergenza Festival.

After releasing “Am I Wrong” in Norway in 2013, the duo signed with Warner Bros. and changed their name. The single was re-released in 2014, charting around the world, including No. 1 on the US Adult Top 40.

Last summer Nico & Vinz supported Bruno Mars in North America and in February they joined Usher’s European tour.

“The Bruno tour was right when the single was blowing up here in the States, so for us it was all about putting a face to a name in terms of that song and how big it was,” WME’s Ben Totis told Pollstar. “Doing a tour like Bruno Mars was the perfect way for us to introduce them into a lot of these markets.”

Co-manager J Erving III calls the stage the singers’ “most comfortable place.”

WME’s Brian Cohen says, “They’re very dynamic and their stage presence is great. They play off each other, but in addition, their personalities really show a lot. These guys are showmen.”

Looking toward the future, Cohen adds, “We’re just continuing to build the path. … We’ll be looking to break new territories and markets moving forward.”

Nico & Vinz have U.S. headline dates booked through June along with a spot at Essence Music Festival in July. One of those new markets is Japan, where the group will play Summer Sonic in August. Look out for a new single in the next couple weeks.

“I think they’ve got a long way to go. We’re excited for what’s to come,” Erving says.
