Rocklahoma Evacuated

Rocklahoma in Pryor, Okla., is planning to rock on tonight after a flash-flood warning canceled last night’s performances.

“After conducting a thorough walkthrough of the festival site, we are going to attempt to play the show today,” a notice on the website says. “We have an onsite meteorologist watching the weather closely and will continue to keep the safety of our fans, bands & staff in mind. As long as the weather cooperates today, we will continue as planned. Please check our website and Facebook page for announcements if anything changes.”

The March 23 performances of Linkin Park and Volbeat were canceled because of flash flooding in the area.

“In a tornado situation, they typically tell you not to get in your vehicle,” Mayes County Emergency Management Director Johnny Janzen reportedly said. However, there are no substantial structures at Rocklahoma that will house everyone. Metal poles make tents an unsafe option in the presence of lightning. So, really, your vehicle may be the safest option.”
