The International Music Summit, EDM’s equivalent of the ILMC, heard how this is a 12 percent increase on the $6.12 billion it was worth 12 months ago.

In the UK, 27 of the 100 top-selling singles of the year were dance tracks, led by the first- and third-most streamed tracks on Spotify (Clean Bandit’s “Rather Be” and Mr Probz’s “Waves”). In the U.S. and Canada, dance is now the fourth-most popular genre for streams with 7 percent of the market, even overtaking country music’s 5 percent.

Calvin Harris, the genre’s biggest earner, made $66 million, followed by David Guetta ($30 million), Avicii and Tiesto ($28 million) and Steve Aoki ($23 million). The International Music Summit was at The Hard Rock Hotel in Ibiza May 20-22.
