With the French company on course to be a global content and media group, de Puyfontaine certainly won’t be stuck for a range of subjects. It’s now a world leader in music through its subsidiary Universal Music Group, a European leader in filmed entertainment and the French leader in pay-television through the Canal+ Group, which includes Studiocanal.

The group’s Vivendi Village division includes Vivendi Ticketing, Wengo, Watchever, and the Paris concert hall L’Olympia. “We are in the midst of a fascinating period of transformation with the convergence between content, platforms and consumer usage. As a global media player with very strong positions in music, television and cinema, Vivendi is at the heart of this evolution,” de Puyfontaine explains.

De Puyfontaine joined Vivendi in January 2014 as a member of the Management Board and senior executive vce president in charge of Vivendi ’s media and content activities.

This year’s Midem has moved from February to June, with the official reason being that the weather is better in the summer. The French conference has denied any suggestion that Europe’s mushrooming music showcase conferences have put the squeeze on Midem, where courting the live side of the business and then the technical side have done little to halt steadily decreasing delegate numbers.
