Scandinavian Becomes Part Of Cosmos

Stockholm-based publisher Scandinavian Songs has been acquired by Cosmos Music, the independent record label that’s also based in the Swedish capital.

Details of the deal were not disclosed. Scandinavian has a local roster of 22 writer/producers with both domestic and international hits. It also represents a number of international publishers for the Nordic region, including Avicii and Ash Pournouri’s publishing company Imagem, Mute Songs, Global Talent and Budde Music. Scandinavian Songs, which has seven songwriting studios at its Stockholm offices, will retain its name and continue to operate as a standalone business under the Cosmos Music umbrella.

“The Nordic region has lacked a good-sized, well-funded, fully independent local publisher and Scandivavian Songs is perfectly positioned to fill that void,” said Cosmos chief exec Fredrik Ekander. “We will now become as active in music publishing as we are on the recorded side.” Cosmos will provide additional resources in A&R, synch/licensing, administration, business affairs and finance in order to build further on Scandinavian Songs position as the leading music publisher in the Nordic region.
