27 Years For Denver Concert Killing

A man charged in a fatal shooting outside Denver’s  was sentenced May 22 to more than 27 years in prison.

George Allen IV pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and committing a crime of violence in the Aug. 4, 2004, death of Kurt Levias outside the venue. Levias was working as a bodyguard for his cousin, Twyla Rivers, who goes by the stage name of Lady Menace, when he was killed.

A fight broke out during a concert when Rivers got onstage. The altercation spilled into the street, where Levias was shot. No arrest was made at the time, and Allen remained at large until he was apprehended last year in Las Vegas, according to the Denver Post.

New information was received following an episode of “America’s Most Wanted,” and leads developed by Homeland Security Investigation office in San Diego in 2013.
