Frankie Avalon Kicks In $5K To Help Find New Home For Mural
The Philadelphia Inquirer reports officials learned Wednesday that the crooner and movie star kicked in $5,000 to help find the mural a new home.
Jane Golden, the founder and chief of the city’s Mural Arts Program, says the donation is on top of $5,000 longtime disc jockey Jerry Blavat committed earlier this week.
Golden says they need about $80,000 for the project.
Avalon and Blavat are among seven south Philadelphia natives whose images have been deteriorating in a decade-old mural of singers and public figures who found fame during the 1950s and 60s.

Officials plan to unveil the replacement mural in about a year.
