The Get Up Kids Turns 20

These days not too many people can say they’ve held the same job for 20 years. The members of The Get Up Kids are marking the milestone of reaching two decades together with a summer anniversary tour.

Sure, there was the breakup in 2005, but we don’t have to get into that.

The Get Up Kids is made up of vocalist/guitarist Matt Pryor, guitarist Jim Suptic, bassist Rob Pope, keyboardist James Dewees and drummer Ryan Pope. Since forming in 1995 and releasing its debut studio album in 1997, Four Minute Mile, the alternative rock band from Kansas City put out four more LPs, including its most recent, 2011’s There Are Rules.

The group has a handful of dates planned prior to the tour, including Saturday’s set at Atlanta’s “The Wrecking Ball”. Additional festival appearances include Belgium’s Pukkelpop and Riot Fest And Rodeo in Denver.
