A Few More Nights With Alabama Shakes

Alabama Shakes has booked a handful of additional dates, including its first 2015 headline shows in Canada and a gig in Columbus, Ohio.

After playing Bonnaroo last weekend, the band’s next stop is Glastonbury Festival in Pilton, England.

Rolling Stone named Alabama Shakes in its list of the “50 Best Things We Saw At Bonnaroo 2015,” calling the band’s set the “best barnburner.” The magazine points out that after playing 2012 on one of the smaller stages late Thursday night, this year Brittany Howard & Co. performed for at least 50,000 on Bonnaroo’s main stage Friday night.

“‘I never thought we’d be here, on this stage,’ Howard told the crowd before stumbling for words. ‘It’s really hard to come up with something to say.’ She didn’t have to say anything: The Alabama Shakes’ sundown gig was yet another showcase of Howard’s unparalleled vocal acrobatics as the tight group shimmered through slow burners like Sound & Color’s ‘I’m Yours’ and high-energy rockers like ‘Hang Loose,’” RS writes.
