Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger Undergoing Vocal Cord Surgery

After callling off a few dates over the weekend “due to illness,” Nickelback has canceled all remaining 2015 North American dates and revealed that frontman Chad Kroeger has been diagnosed with an “operable cyst on his voice box.”

Kroeger is on vocal rest for the next three weeks, after which he’ll undergo vocal cord surgery. A post on the band’s website says his medical team “anticipates a full recovery.”

“I am sorry I have to interrupt the party this summer and I am definitely not thrilled with the prospect of being silent for many weeks to come when I could be out there playing for our fans,” Kroeger said. “I am relying on my doctor and his team to help get my voice back in good form as quickly as possible.”

Nickelback was supposed to play the Toyota Amphitheatre in Wheatland, Calif., tonight. The second leg of the North American portion of the “No Fixed Address Tour” had dates booked through Sept. 4 in Durant, Okla.

The Canadian rockers are due back on the road Sept. 30 in Helsinki, Finland. The band plans to return to North America in 2016.
