Anthrax, The Devil & You

Anthrax has something special for its 21-and-over fans – a new, limited edition high-end bourbon called “The Devil You Know.” The potent potable serves as a reminder that the wealth of whiskey knowledge among longtime metal bands is a valuable resource yet to be fully explored.

After all, who might know more about bourbon, rye and other distilled spirits than a veteran hard rockin’ band?  “The Devil You Know” is the latest high-end bourbon carrying the Anthrax seal of approval and follows last year’s “Indians.”  The new adult beverage comes into this world via an alliance between the band and distiller Knob Creek.

“If we find something we really like and that we actually drink ourselves, we think maybe our fans might like it too, so we want to make it available for them,” Scott Ian said.  “We really enjoyed ‘Indians,’ the bourbon we produced last year, and obviously our fans did as well as it sold out really quickly.”

For “The Devil You Know,” members of Anthrax partnered with Kentucky-based distiller Knob Creek.  The result is two barrels of high-end, nine-year-old bourbon priced at $59 per bottle that is now a proud member of the distillery’s “small batch” line.   Every bottle purchased ships with a card personally autographed by the band.

“We had a great time sampling the different bourbons to find the one we thought was the best,” Frank Bello said.  “And we hope our fans have the same good time drinking it.  Responsibly, of course.”

Currently in the studio working on the follow-up to 2011’s Worship Music,” Anthrax has filled its fall calendar with dates on both sides of the Atlantic.  Click here for the schedule and here to get in touch with “The Devil You Know.”
