Mew Splits With Guitarist

Mew says Bo Madsen has left the lineup – but a statement released this week indicates that the guitarist might rejoin the band one day.

“After 20 years playing together in Mew, the band and Bo Madsen have decided to part ways for the time being,” vocalist Jonas Bjerre, bassist Johan Wohlert and drummer Silas Graae wrote in a joint statement posted on the group’s website.

“At present the rest of us will continue with Mew. We are happy to tell you that guitarist Mads Wegner will be joining us on our upcoming shows, and we look forward to seeing you all out there. Thank you for your understanding and support.”

Madsen has been with Mew since the start, when four childhood friends formed the Danish alternative rock band in 1995. The guitarist’s bio on Mew’s website, which refers to him as the “Pancake Maestro,” says he also “does short film, drawing and other different art projects.”
