Tim McGraw Does It For Vets

Tim McGraw’s current “Shotgun Rider” tour is more than just country music hits served up by one of the biggest stars of the genre.  So far the tour has  provided six U.S. military veterans with mortgage-free homes.

Although McGraw launched his Shotgun Rider tour launched early last month, the country superstar has been working with Operation Homefront and Chase for three years to help vets find shelter.  So far, the partnership has awarded 114 homes and affected the lives of more than 300 veterans and their families in 30 states.

McGraw recently talked about the efforts to give homes to veterans while appearing in a video that is available via this link.

The plan for 2015 is to award 36 homes during the tour, meaning 30 more will be handed out between now and when the adventure’s autumn conclusion.  With thousands of vets returning home from Afghanistan and Iraq with serious injuries, a mortgage-free home is but a small gift to give to someone who has sacrificed so much for this country.

“The heart and soul of commitment, loyalty, service, and honor – that kind of dedication in generations of service is a rare and exceptional beauty … I want to be an American and I want to be free,” said McGraw about veterans.  “You make me proud to be an American and because of you I am free.”
