Lights Out At Lit Nightclub
Dance music fans expecting a party called “Elevate” scheduled July 2 arrived at Lit to find the doors locked. That same evening, Lit musical director/DJ Frizzy said he received a “goodbye” email from Larson, informing him the club wasn’t “working anymore, that he was leaving St. Louis to move to Florida and that he was sorry,” according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
“All of us were pretty surprised. Nobody expected him to bail like that,” Frizzy told the paper.
“I was there that night (last week) thinking Christian was going to come up and let us all into the club but he just left everybody in the dust.”
The DJ also told the Post-Dispatch he was owed money, as were several contractors, and that payroll was erratic. Ozzie Salcedo, the club’s former promotions director, told the paper he was owed money by Larson and quit four weeks earlier because of it.
“There was not a willingness or ability to pay. He was in so much debt with everybody,” Salcedo said.
Frizzy told the Post-Dispatch that the club’s other partners will try to keep the club going, but it will remain closed for at least the near future.
