Performing as The Africa Express Project, the act reportedly took to the stage at 11 p.m. and was removed from it at 4 a.m. the following day.

According to music mag Pitchfork, Albarn was told to stop but refused. Instead, he motivated the crowd to keep on cheering so he could continue playing.

“Fuck what everyone says. You want more, we’re going to give you more,” he said. In the end the festival security team decided to take the problem into their own hands, picking up Albarn and physically carrying from the stage, drawing a collective boo from the audience.

The 80,000-capacity festival had sold out at the beginning of June. The other acts who got chance to play June 27 to July 4 included Florence & The Machine, MuseDisclosurePharrell Williams, and Kate Tempest.
