Rosanne Cash: Artist-In-Residence

“Rosanne Cash, this year’s artist-in-residence, comes to us at the top of her game,” museum CEO Kyle Young says. “On her latest release, The River & the Thread, Rosanne explores her deep roots in the South and delivers some of her best work in an already illustrious career. We are thrilled to welcome her for what are sure to be three unforgettable performances. It is a bonus that she takes the stage for her residency while her father is featured in a special museum exhibit, ‘Dylan, Cash, and the Nashville Cats.’”

Cash plays the Country Music Hall of Fame and Musuem’s 800-seat CMA Theater Sept. 2-3 and returns Sept. 24 to perform an even more intimate gig at the Ford Theater, which holds holds 213 people.

She’ll be accompanied by a full band Sept. 2 for a performance of her 2014’s The River & the Thread. The evening will also feature favorite tunes from throughout her career. The River & the Thread won a Grammy award for “best Americana album” while the track “A Feather’s Not a Bird” took home “best American roots song” and “best American roots performance.” 

The Sept. 3 show features special guests Emmylou Harris and Lucinda Williams. Cash’s website notes the concert represents the first time the musicians have shared the stage for an entire evening.

Cash’s husband – producer/guitarist/co-writer and creative partner John Leventhal – joins her for the Sept. 24 show.

Previous artist-in-residence honorees include Cowboy Jack Clement, Earl Scruggs, Tom T. Hall, Guy Clark, Kris Kristofferson, Jerry Douglas, Vince Gill, Buddy Miller, Connie Smith, Kenny Rogers, Ricky Skaggs, and Alan Jackson.
