San Fran’s Outside Lands Reveals Night Shows, Barbary Tent Fun

The Notorious Wilco Brothers, Leon Bridges, Langhorne Slim & The Law, and The Drums are among the acts playing ’ special at small and intimate venues in San Francisco.

Aug. 7-9 is when Outside Lands delivers its annual fest of music, food, beer and wine at Golden Gate Park.   This year’s lineup includes Mumford & Sons, The Black Keys, Elton John, Wilco, Kendrick Lamar, Sam Smith and many others.

Now the festival has announced its night agenda for local establishments The Independent, Rickshaw Stop, Brick & Mortar Music Hall and the California Academy of Sciences. Along with the acts listed in the first graph, you’ll find Metz, Speedy Ortiz, Alvvays, GRMLN, Twin Peaks, DMA’s, Day Wave, Strand of Oaks, DJ Windows 98 (Arcade Fire’s Win Butler) and DJ Aaron Axelsen playing those cozy venues.

Some shows are open to the general public while others are exclusively for Outside Lands’ ticketholders who will receive passwords sometime today (July 9).

Here’s the plan:

Aug. 6 – The Notorious Wilco Brothers 8 p.m. @ The Independent (21 plus).  For Outside Lands ticketholders only.

Aug. 6 – Alvvays, GRMLN 6 p.m. @ California Academy Of Sciences (21 plus).

Aug. 6 – Strand Of Oaks 8 p.m. @ Brick & Mortar Music Hall (18 plus).

Aug. 6 – DJ Windows 98, DJ Aaron Axelsen 9 p.m. @ Rickshaw Stop (all ages).

Aug. 7 – Leon Bridges, Langhorne Slim & The Law 10 p.m. @ The Independent (21 plus).  For Outside Lands ticketholders only.

Aug. 7 – The Drums 10 p.m. @ Brick & Mortar Music Hall (18 plus)

Aug. 7 – Metz, Speedy Ortiz 10 p.m. @ Rickshaw Stop (all ages).

Aug. 8 – Twin Peaks, DMA’s, Day Wave 10 p.m. @ Brick & Mortar Music Hall (18 plus).

What’s up with that “Notorious Wilco Brothers” show at The Independent?  That’s how the Outside Lands website is listing the act along with a photo of the band Wilco. If you dig deep enough you’ll also see Wilco listed as playing that venue.

But Outside Lands announced more than its night shows.  The festival revealed a long list of funny people performing at the Barbary Tent Comedy and Improv.  Check out the lineup:

Along with night shows and comedy performances, Outside Lands set its “Summer Pairings” agenda.  A new Series I entry is urban winery Bluxome Street hosting Nombe Food 5-9 p.m. July 17.  A ticket includes entry and a trio of food and wine pairings.  Series II happens July 19 at Long Meadow Ranch in St. Helena at 2 p.m. and features Cheese Lands & The Travelin McCourys.  Series III takes place 7-9 p.m. at La Urbana with 21st Amendment.
