Thundercat To Prowl North America
Released last month on Brainfeeder, the six-track disc contains the first new solo material from Stephen Bruner aka Thundercat in two years and was hailed by Pitchfork as a “best new music” selection. The track “Them Changes” was praised by Los Angeles Times scribe Randall Roberts as being “drenched with black-power energy and dense with soul-funk spirit.”
Thundercat had a little help from his friends for the disc. Flying Lotus co-produced three of the tracks and Herbie Hancock provided keyboards on “Lone Wolf & Cub.” The presence of other members of the Brainfeeder world is also felt on the record with Kamasi Washington playing sax, Miguel Atwood-Ferguson providing strings and Mono/Poly contributing production.
