Grönemeyer’s 24-Show Sellout

German promoters Dirk Becker and Marek Lieberberg must have an early candidate for the country’s Live Entertainment Award for best tour with the run of shows they put together for Herbert Grönemeyer.

The 28 shows, 24 in Germany, two in Austria, and one each in Switzerland and The Netherlands, all sold out, shifting a total of 426,628 tickets.

The largest gig was June 13 at the 45,853 Red Bull A in Leipzig, while the smallest was the closer in The Netherlands at a 5,500-capacity Amsterdam Heineken Music Hall.

In 2007 Grönemeyer, who has combined his singing career with being an actor, appearing in seminal German World War II movie “Das Boot,” did a stadium tour that shifted 850,000 tickets.
