Lawyer Tries To Remove Stay In Lawsuit Against 50 Cent

A woman who won a $5 million judgment against 50 Cent is asking that her invasion-of-privacy case be allowed to go forward despite a bankruptcy filing by the rapper.

The lawyer for Lastonia Leviston filed a motion asking a U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Connecticut for relief from an automatic stay issued as a result of Monday’s bankruptcy filing.

The motion accuses the rapper, whose real name is Curtis Jackson III, of filing for Chapter 11 protection to evade testifying earlier in the day in the New York civil case, where a jury was to consider punitive damages. That jury ruled Friday that Jackson must pay Leviston after releasing without her permission a sexually explicit video she made with her boyfriend.
