Oregon Promoter Ed Dougherty Dies

He started out in the 1960s organizing teen dances and later concerts at venues including the Salem Armory with artists including Johnny Cash, Sonny & Cher, the Mamas & The Papas, Animals, Yardbirds, Paul Revere & The Raiders, Steppenwolf, Three Dog Night, The Doors, and Pink Floyd, according to the Statesman Journal.
He branched out to promote major concerts statewide, including for the Oregon State Fair, booking such artists as Elvis Presley, The Rolling Stones, and The Beach Boys. After leaving the promotion business, Dougherty continued to work as an entertainment consultant until his retirement.
