For the second year in a row, one of China’s major music festivals, Modern Sky, will hold an event in New York City, in Central Park.

The concert is Oct 4 with the headliner British postpunk legends Gang of Four, which derived its name from a group of government hardliners who emerged during China’s infamous Cultural Revolution in the 1970s.
The festival’s choice of the band and its oblique relationship with its name seems to be completely coincidental.
Also on the bill will be Chinese ballad singer Song Dongye and Beijing-based punk act New Pants. In addition to the New York show, there will also be a West Coast version of the festival in Seattle on Oct. 11 that will feature Ariel Pink and Black Lips.
