He wraps up his summer U.S. schedule with a few festival appearances – Newport Folk Festival in Rhode Island July 25 and Rocky Mountain Folks Fest in Lyons, Colo., Aug. 14.

The new dates follow a trip to Europe that begins with two nights in Dublin, Aug. 28-29.

The singer/songwriter is continuing to support his seventh studio album, Carrie & Lowell, which was released in March on his Asthmatic Kitty Records. The album is named after his mother, who died in 2012, and his stepfather, Lowell Brams, who is the director of Stevens’ label.

“These are intensely personal songs, constructed with sincerity, care, a compassionate fascination with religious faith and connection, and an innate understanding of the way messy, overlapping emotions can color our memories,” NPR said in its review. “In a sense, it feels like a concept album about silence – silence to reflect, silence following a death, silence as an alternative to noise and confusion – in such a way that it demands silent attention. It’s a soundtrack for late-night drives and solitary Sunday mornings when every distraction is muted.”
