Funding Sought For Oakdale Upgrade

Live Nation Connecticut President Jimmy Koplik told the Record-Journal that the company seeks a state grant that will pay for further soundproofing, in particular of one wall that faces the neighborhood generating complaints. Permit modifications require the theatre to adhere to a 100-decibel limit on shows in either the Dome or the main theatre venues.
“We will go to the state for a grant to further soundproof that wall that faces Beryl Lane,” Koplik told the paper of the street from which the noise complaints emanate.
“That will be the first thing we do.” It’s believed the vast majority of complaints come from two residences on that street. It appeared the cease-and-desist, with the easing of city permits to adjust decibel levels and improve VIP parking and traffic mitigation at the Oakdale, was effectively lifted July 13.
Attorney Joan Molloy told the Record-Journal she doesn’t believe the town and LN, which she represents, have come to a “final resolution.”
“Certainly we need to have a conversation with the town to see whether it’s satisfied by the actions of the Planning and Zoning commission; if they addressed the issues that cause the cease-and-desist … to be issued by the town,” Molloy told the paper.
