Electric Daisy Japan

Insomniac Events has announced that it will hold a new edition of its flagship electronic dance music event Electric Daisy Carnival in Tokyo next July at a location yet to be named.

Based in the U.S., Insomniac has managed to expand the EDC brand to the UK, Brazil and Mexico, but this will be the first time one of its festivals will be in Asia.

According to Music Times, Insomniac may be feeling pressure from like-minded events producers such as Ultra Music, which announced a dozen new worldwide dance music events for 2015, many of them in Asia, where music fans are especially hungry for this sort of entertainment.

In a statement, Insomniac’s founder and CEO, Pasquale Rotella, said, “Dance music is a truly global movement, and over the last few years I’ve been fortunate enough to bring EDC to our Headliners in Mexico, the UK, and, later this year, Brazil…in 2016 we’ll be adding Japan to that list!”

Insomniac will partner with local internet services provider GMO Internet Group to present the event.
