For many years, Benicassim had been Spain’s No.1 festival, drawing much of its crowd from UK festivalgoers making it a holiday destination. It certainly hasn’t lost that crowd as this year half of the crowd came from the UK and Ireland, with 45 percent from Spain.

Last year’s average crowd of 25,000 per day was equaled on the first day, with another 5,000 added for the final three days. Primavera Sound looks on course to be the country’s largest festival of 2015, drawing average crowds of 43,750 per day.

Two weeks ago BBK Live in Bilbao sold out its 40,000 capacity for the second year in a row.

The acts helping Benicassim on its way back to the top July 16-19 include The Prodigy, Florence & The Machine, Bastille, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, and Clean Bandit.
