Cat Power To Prowl West Coast

Chan Marshall, aka Cat Power, has lined up a series of West Coast dates for early September.  Meanwhile, the singer/songwriter/actress has a new gig coming up – narrating a documentary about Janis Joplin.

Marshall will voice narration for “Janis.”  Helmed by Academy Award-nominated director Amy Berg (“Deliver Us From Evil,” “West Of Memphis”), the film will have its world debut at the Venice Film Festival where it will screen out of competition.

“After attempting to get this film off of the ground for seven years, I am ecstatic that the film is finally ready to be seen,” Berg said.  “This has been a labor of love and I cannot wait to share Janis’ unique, intimate story with the world.  Chan Marshall has delivered beautiful, introspective voice of Janis’ by reading her letters.”

At this time Marshall’s touring calendar has the artist launching a brief outing in Reno Sept. 1.  From there she’ll head westward for gigs in California.  Here’s the schedule:

Sept. 1 – Reno, Nev., Cargo Concert Hall
Sept. 2 – Sonoma, Calif., Gundlach Bundschu Winery
Sept. 4 – Santa Cruz, Calif., Rio Theatre
Sept. 5 – Santa Ana, Calif., The Observatory (Burger A-Go-Go)
Sept. 6 – Solana Beach, Calif., Belly Up Tavern

Tickets for Sept. 5 are already on sale.  Tickets for all other dates go on sale July 31.  Check out CatPowerMusic.com for more information.
