Gary Clark Jr. announces plans for his journey supporting his second major label release – “The Story Of Sonny Boy Slim.”  Destinations include Boston, Chicago, Minneapolis, Omaha and Seattle.

The newly announced headlining tour follows Clark’s Sept.-Oct. travels with Foo Fighters.  The guitarist also has a few festival gigs on his calendar, including today’s performance at and upcoming shows at in Montreal (Aug. 2), in Pownal, Vt. (Aug. 22), in New York (Aug. 23) and two days in his Austin hometown for the annual (Oct. 2 & 9).

Clark’s extensive roadwork is in support of his second studio album on Warner Bros.  The Story Of Sonny Boy Slim was not only written, produced and arranged by Clark, but the axeman also played most of the instruments.  Clark’s longtime soundman Bharath “Cheex” Ramanat” along with Jason Sciba recorded the album.  Clark’s sisters Shawn and Savannah provided backing vocals.  The Story Of Sonny Boy Slim arrives Sept. 11.  Pre-ordering the album from participating digital retailers will give you two instant-grat tracks – “The Healing” and “The Grinder.”  Click here for details.

The fall headlining tour launches in Boston on Halloween and includes a Nov. 1 stop in Philadelphia before jumping to 2016 and Saint Petersburg, Fla., in mid-February.  Here’s the routing:
