Live Nation Acquires MAMA

LN-Gaiety Holdings has acquired MAMA & Company, the UK operator of London venues including  and promoter of festivals The Great Escape and Love Box.

“We are delighted to be welcoming new venues, and some that we have previously managed, into the group,” said Paul Latham, LN UK and Ireland chief operating officer.

“Likewise MAMA have made great strides with their festivals and the creativity they have demonstr, , and .

MAMA’s festivals include The Great Escape in Brighton, Love Box in East London’s Victoria Park, the Somersault camping festival in the South West, the one-day Citadel festival in London and electronic music festival Global Gathering.

Live Nation had owned The Forum but unloaded it as a condition to acquire Academy Music Group in 2007. MAMA had been effectively controlled by Lloyds Banking Group, which paid former parent company and then-maligned British retailer HMV £7.3 million for MAMA Group in December 2012. Rumors started floating in March that it was seeking a buyer and had hired an adviser to sort through bids.

The LN-Gaiety MAMA announcement comes on the heels of the formation of Live Nation Germany with the addition of major German promoter Marek Lieberberg Konzertagentur.
