Supervisors ordered the county’s chief executive on Aug. 3 to look into a moratorium. They also voted to investigate the deaths of two women who attended the event at Fairplex, the site of the L.A. County Fair and county-owned property.

Authorities suspect that 19-year-old Katie Dix and 18-year-old Tracy Nguyen died Aug. 2 of drug overdoses.

City News Service says the board was told 29 other festival-goers were treated for drug- or alcohol-related problems and two people were hospitalized in critical condition with head injuries after falling.

The two-day festival reportedly had sellout crowds of about 65,000 each day. According to the Los Angeles Times, at least 19 people have died from overdoses or in drug-related incidents involving music festivals in California and Las Vegas since 2006.
