Shootings Follow X Fest
Artists including Waka Flocka Flame, Tech N9ne and many more performed during X Fest, which was staged in the city’s downtown area. This was the festival’s 15th year. A police statement noted the incident occurred outside a warehouse where an after-party was taking place with “dozens of people in attendance.”
“While attendees were waiting to get into the party, a black male adult walked into the parking lot and started shooting,” the statement continued. When officers arrived at the scene, they found one 25-year-old man who’d been shot. He was transported to a nearby hospital and died from his injuries.
Seven others arrived at a local hospital by private transport. Two were hospitalized in serious but stable condition and five others were treated for gunshot wounds and released.
X Fest officials explained on Facebook the party wasn’t officially connected to the festival. “X Fest wants to remind everyone that there are no X Fest after parties produced by Chris Ricci Presents, Inc.,” a statement said. “Our full commitment after the 1AM closing of the event is to remove stages, take down fencing, and return downtown to the state that we found it, if not better. We work hard all year long to make X Fest a safe and successful event. We have always been fully committed to cooperating with our community, government, and law enforcement to make X Fest the best event it can be.”
