Eavis Remembers Gammon

Seemingly pleased to participate in something other than “Guess The Headliner,” Glastonbury festival founder and farmer Michael Eavis recalled: “For over 20 years, John has phoned me at least once a year looking for an unusual take on things here at Glastonbury – not remotely interested in headliners!
“He was very entertaining, and what I call a proper journalist. Thanks John.”
In his stories, Gammon was always sure to mention Eavis as a farmer and to get input about how the festival affected the farmland and livestock. We likewise remember John having similar kind words about Mr. Eavis, whom he fondly referred to as “an old-fashioned English gentleman.”
Gammon died recently after a short battle with cancer and leaves big shoes to fill here at Pollstar. Details on any pending services are still hard to come by as, according to friend and colleague Andy Phillips, Gammon had no immediate family and had not completed a will.
