Fantastic Negrito’s Second-Chance Show
Fantastic Negrito is scheduled to perform Sept. 11 at The Independent and Another Planet Entertainment President Sherry Wasserman told Pollstar they’ve received double the venue’s capacity in RSVPs for the free event.
Negrito was riding in a vehicle with his intern on the way to the festival Aug. 8 when they were stopped and cited by police responding to a Craigslist post advertising backstage pass wristbands. While the artist and another colleague claimed they had no involvement, the intern reportedly confessed at the time to offering up the wristbands.
“It was a really unfortunate situation,” Wasserman said. “He didn’t know his intern was selling a wristband.” The men were held for hours and Fantastic Negrito missed his slot at Outside Lands.
Another Planet wanted to remedy the situation so Wasserman explained they met with Negrito and his managers and offered to do a free “Inside Lands” show at The Independent for the fans who’d hoped to see him play.
“We’re trying to make it right for the artist, the fans, for everybody,” she said.
