Ex Red Hot Chili Peppers Bandmate’s Stolen Guitar Found

Police in San Francisco have recovered a guitar owned by a former member of the Red Hot Chili Peppers two weeks before it was to be loaned to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Officer Carlos Manfredi said Friday that the 1966 Fender Telecaster, valued at $30,000, was owned by John Frusciante, who played for the rock band for several years.

Frusciante gave the electric guitar to a friend whose home in the Potrero Hill-Bayview district was burglarized Aug. 16.

Manfredi said investigators determined the guitar had changed hands three times within 10 days before they were able to find it. They returned it to Frusciante’s friend, who is going to loan it to the museum in Cleveland.

Police did not release any information on possible suspects.
