Man Faces Life Sentence In Killing Of Grooveshark Executive
A Pinellas County jury found 27-year-old Andres Rodriguez Torres guilty last week of second-degree murder. His sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 16.
Authorities say 27-year-old Eddy Vasquez, the director of international sales at Grooveshark, was in St. Petersburg for a wedding in November 2013. Vasquez and Rodriguez Torres – who had attended the University of South Florida together – were out barhopping when authorities say the two got into an argument, and Rodriguez Torres shot Vasquez twice in the chest.
Grooveshark was founded by three University of Florida classmates in 2006. The service shut down in April as part of a settlement with Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment and Warner Music Group.
