40 Watt Co-Founder Paul Scales Dies

Paul Scales, cofounder of Athens, Ga.’s , died of a heart attack Sept. 4.

The club has moved five times since Scales and others opened it in 1978. The club has hosted everyone from Snoop Dogg and Nirvana to one of its most famous hometown heroes, 

Scales, who was also known as the organizer of The Office Lounge blues jams, was a longtime musician and one of the best-known people of Athens’ music scene. His age was not known at press time.
